CONGRESSIONAL REDISTRICTING UPDATE
On May 11, the Court vacated the court-ordered congressional map that we fall under right now (map in comments) clearing the way for Alabama to return to the 2023 Legislature-drawn map. This 2023 map puts Mobile county and Baldwin county back together again. The 2023 map is shown below.
Governor Ivey acted quickly, calling a Special Primary Election for the four affected congressional districts: the 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th.
Here is what you need to know:
• Special Primary for the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th districts on August 11, 2026.
There will be No runoff!
• General Election: November 3, 2026, as scheduled alongside all other races.
• Qualifying opens for these congressional candidates on May 20 (affected Districts only).
Major party deadline is May 22 at 5:00 p.m.
Independent and minor party candidates may qualify through August 11 at 5:00 p.m.
The May 19 primary will proceed as planned for all other races.
This outcome is a direct result of the groundwork laid during last week's special session.
