Silverhill native, Jennifer Fidler, has announced her candidacy for House of Representatives, District 94. The primaries are set for May 24, 2022.
When announcing her campaign, Fidler explains she is seeking office because, “We need someone new to represent the citizens of District 94 and serve as their conservative voice in the legislature. As a seventh generation native of this district, I love this community and the people in it. We are one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama, and we must have leadership that will respond and work for the people to make a difference. We need someone who will continue to work to protect our waterways, understands the value of private property rights, and the importance of our agricultural farmland. I’m excited about the opportunity to stand as a new voice in the legislature to represent the citizens of this district.”
Fidler has extensive experience in leadership roles and local government. She has worked in municipal leadership for nearly 30 years. In 1992, she earned her degree from Auburn University and became the first arborist/horticulturist for the City of Eufaula. She began and built Eufaula’s first horticultural program at age 22. She worked with community residents to develop programs that supported the city’s vitality. While working fulltime for Eufaula, Fidler completed a master’s degree in education at Troy State in Phenix City. She was chosen to participate in the Rotary Club’s Group Study Exchange to Argentina and the Agricultural LEADERS program traveling nationally and internationally. She served on the Alabama Urban Forestry Association, ultimately serving as President.
In 2001, Fidler moved back to Silverhill, and served as Fairhope’s Public Works Director where she led the Streets, Construction, Landscaping, Horticulture, and Sanitation Services. Managing over 70 employees and a multimillion-dollar budget, she assured that visitors and residents alike enjoyed a beautiful, vibrant, and clean city. During her tenure, she served on the board for the Alabama Public Works Association, ultimately serving as President. and served on the Planning Commission from 2007 to 2017. In 2017, she worked for the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization, gaining administration skills, and an intimate knowledge of just how fast the Eastern Shore is growing. With over 25 years of leadership in local government, Fidler retired in 2018 and started a design company to offer landscape support to small communities. She has also served as an advisor with the national America in Bloom program since 2020.
Fidler has been married for 12 years to Reagan Scroggins, owner of Willy Ts Restaurant in Robertsdale and attends Grace Fellowship Church in Fairhope, Alabama. Her faith led her to complete a three-year Faith Bible Institute Program. Her parents are long- time Silverhill peanut and cattle farmers, Jimmie and Faye Fidler and all her immediate family live in Baldwin County.
